Similarly to looking into posters, I wanted to see how Japanese type can be put into a logo form.
The logo below is beautifully traditional. It would be great to use something similar, but I feel this is too traditional, and does not relate to contemporary design of today in Japan.
The colours used in the image below are beautifully neutral, and really bring together monozukuri. These colours, or something similar, are something that would work really well if chosen.
I love this simple logo below, and it's clear that a minimal sans serif has been used for both the Japanese type as well as the latin alphabet.
Conclusion:
It seems that because of the complexity of Japanese type, logos can be kept simple, with just simple shapes surrounding them. More often than not, a logotype is used. This may also be to do with the complexity of Japanese type, and how much you can do with it.
